Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 12, 2026
Layiso is a multi-track screen recorder for macOS, developed by Dawid Zbinski (“we”, “us”). This policy explains what data Layiso handles and where it goes. The short version: everything stays on your Mac. We collect nothing.
Data we collect
None. Layiso has no user accounts, no analytics, no telemetry, no crash reporting, no advertising identifiers, and no tracking of any kind. We do not collect, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. We never see your recordings, and we have no servers that could receive them.
Recordings stay on your device
Everything Layiso captures — screen video, window and region captures, camera video, microphone and system audio, transcripts, and keystroke captions — is written directly to files on your Mac, in the output folder you choose. These files are yours. They are never uploaded anywhere by Layiso, and only you decide whether to keep, move, share, or delete them.
Keystroke recording
Layiso can optionally record the keys you press so they can be exported as a subtitle (SRT) file alongside your screen recording — useful for tutorials and demos. This feature:
- is off by default and only captures while a recording you started is actively running;
- requires the macOS Input Monitoring permission, which you grant and can revoke at any time in System Settings → Privacy & Security;
- writes captured keystrokes only to a local SRT file in your chosen output folder — they are never transmitted off your device.
On-device transcription
If you enable transcription, Layiso converts your microphone audio to subtitles using an on-device Whisper speech-recognition model. The transcription itself runs entirely on your Mac — audio never leaves your device. The first time you enable this feature, Layiso downloads the model file over the network; this download contains no personal data and is the only network activity the feature performs.
macOS permissions Layiso requests
- Screen Recording — to capture displays, windows, and regions you select.
- Camera — to record camera video when you choose a camera as a source.
- Microphone — to record audio when you choose a microphone as a source.
- Input Monitoring — only if you enable keystroke captions (see above).
- Speech Recognition — only if you enable on-device transcription.
Each permission is requested only when you first use the corresponding feature, and Layiso works without any permission you choose not to grant (the related feature is simply unavailable).
Purchases
The Layiso Pro upgrade is sold exclusively through Apple’s App Store in-app purchase system. Your payment is processed entirely by Apple; we never receive your name, payment details, or billing address. Apple’s handling of purchase data is described in Apple’s Privacy Policy.
Third parties
Layiso embeds no third-party analytics, advertising, or data-collection SDKs. The only network connections the app makes are the optional speech-model download described above and Apple’s own App Store services for purchases.
Children
Layiso is not directed at children and, since it collects no data from anyone, it collects no data from children.
Changes to this policy
If Layiso’s data practices ever change, we will update this page and revise the effective date above before the change takes effect.
